What to bring

Use a padel racket with a wrist strap, padel balls, comfortable clothing and shoes designed for the court surface and lateral movement. Ask the venue whether equipment rental is available before booking. Running shoes are not designed for every sideways court demand.

Begin with coaching and a manageable session

A beginner lesson can introduce the underarm serve, wall rebounds and doubles positioning. Start with a session length that suits your current fitness and take breaks. Social matches and competitive formats vary in duration; there is no single match length.

Build gradually

Avoid jumping from no racket sport to consecutive long matches. Leave recovery time between unfamiliar sessions, notice soreness and adjust the next session if needed. Technique and consistency matter more than trying every advanced shot immediately.

Playing in Malta’s conditions

Bring water and consider the temperature and sun exposure when choosing a court time. Outdoor courts can be demanding in the heat. Check actual local venues for availability rather than relying on an unverified club list.
