One racket, several areas of load
Gripping, repeated impact and overhead shots can challenge different parts of the arm. Pain may be felt in the shoulder, elbow, forearm or wrist. Location and timing offer useful information, but they do not establish a diagnosis.
Review recent changes
Think about new equipment, tighter grip, more matches or more overhead shots. Reduce the activity that aggravates symptoms. A coach may identify technique factors, while a clinician can assess pain and function.
Know when to ask for help
Get an assessment for persistent or worsening pain, swelling, numbness or weakness. Sudden severe symptoms after a fall need prompt advice. Arm pain with chest discomfort or breathlessness can be an emergency, not a sports injury.
